Ram runners host invitational at Spring Lake Park

The Greene County cross country teams hosted the Ram Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Spring Lake Park northwest of Grand Junction.

The event was divided into two classes with the Rams running in the larger school class. Denison was the girls’ winner and the Winterset boys were the top team. Collins-Maxwell-Baxter was the smaller school girls’ winner while South Hamilton took the boys’ crown.

The top Greene County runner was Olivia Hansen who finished seventh on the course, winning a meet medal. Her time was 21:52. Other times and places were Bailey Cunningham 23:53, 31st; Ashlee Harmeyer 25:08, 42nd; Izzy Bravard 27:01, 52nd; Kassie Lamoureux 27:30, 69th; Regan Lamoureux 27:37, 71st; Emily Bettey 28;36, 86th; Savannah Parker 30:25, 99th; Emma Larson 32:56, 107th; Emily Hofer 32:58, 108th; Kirsten Lamoureux 33:04, 109th; and Flavia Perri 35:16, 113th.

Girls Team Standings: Denison 30; Winterset 54; Algona 105; Creston 121; Nevada 142; Greene County 178; Kuemper 191; Boone 197; Perry 201.

Nick Killion paced the Ram boys, finishing 73rd in 21:58. Brian Hardaway was right behind Killion in 21:59 and 74th place. Other times and places were Sergio Perez 23:54, 108th; and Jacob Hueser 32:10, 148th.

Boys Team Standings: Winterset 55; Denison 70; Algona 75; Nevada 78; Kuemper 79; Perry 178; Boone 228. Greene County did not have enough runners for a team score.

In middle school races, Luios Velazco paced the boys with a time of 13:22 and 10th place. Other times and places were Alex Roberts 14:23 22nd; Logan Woodruff 15:00 32rd; Colton Aubrey 16;03 42nd; Jax Carstensen 18:49 69th; Nathan Wailes 19:12 71st; Aiden Neil 19:22, 72nd; and Jayden Carstensen 19:25, 73rd.

In team standings, Denison-Schleswig won with 80 points. Greene County was in 10th place with 175 points.

Conner Allender finished first of the Ram girls in 16:14 and in 22nd place in the race. Other times and finishes were Ariel Mills 18:10, 45th; Cheyanne Ferguson 19:46, 55nd; Nayana Broc 21:10, 63rd; Julia Oyres 21:13, 64th; Hannah Curtis 22:47, 67th; and Hannah Acton 29:37, 72nd.

Panorama won with 41 points. Greene County finished in 11th place with 249 points.
